03/27/21 Day Eighteen - Lukelai Goes Ka-blooey

 

Okay. Just did the Lukelai blow up at Emily and Richard's wedding. Heh.

The Lorelai's are terrible people.




So, the blow-up happens (which was entertaining) and Luke says give me some time to process the fact that you say there's nothing between you and Christopher, but then, why didn't you tell me you hung out those times if it's not a big deal. Lorelai Sr. instead of respecting his boundaries and giving him a second, word vomits all over him publicly and surprise, surprise, he pushes her away.



But...

Once again, this show has me feeling bad for Lorelai Sr. That phone call to him with her saying "I just need my best friend". And he came running because well, he might very well be the only decent person in Purgatory.

There goes my cold black heart again.



And Lorelai Jr.  OMFG. The boy tells her that he doesn't do the commitment thing. They make out and she's watching her phone like "WHY DOESN'T HE CALL ME???"  And then acting all like, "WHY CAN'T WE JUST HANG OUT YOU AND ME?" later when they hang out because...uggh...





Like, he gave her the program. Told her to read the program. Outlined the program. She is not with the program.

Please tell me this isn't a "but I can change the town cur storyline". I hate those storylines.



Oh and btw, Pretty sure Taylor is the purgatory demon of Stars Hollow because he doesn't seem to serve any purpose but to stir up trouble and increase the suffering of the other characters..

And Lane looks 40 without her glasses. So I looked it up. The actress that plays her is a year older than me. 😐


I'm 46, btw...which would have made me somewhere around my late twenties, early thirties at the time this aired, I think. Yikes.

So today was the Yale game episode and 1) Richard's a fun drunk, I can dig it. 2) Lorelai Sr. really is an awful person BUT I like Digger and the way that whole date thing shook out.  I couldn't help thinking though "So the writers DO know how to write romantic wooing and playful banter and not make it weird and stalkery. Good for them!" 3) Oh, yeah, and Paris and the writer teacher guy making out. Heh. That was a nice twist.

05/12/21 Sprung on Spring

Recap... Rory’s writing a novel for a crazy British lady, she’s also still not-dating Logan (Oh, look, there’s Logan’s dad) and Lorelai is in therapy with her mom. And they’re holding a town meeting to plan for a Pride parade and I’m happy to report that there are very few gays in Purgatory. (I always knew it) Anyway, they can’t do it, because despite what certain people have been led to believe, there is a startlingly low number of homosexuals living in Stars Hollow. Also, Taylor commits a HIPAA violation and steals Lorelai’s guest list and finds there are B-movie actors in town and WE CAN’T HAVE THAT! Michel has a straight-up meltdown because of the B-listers. Lorelai talks to Luke about it, but Luke’s basically like F* that guy. Side note: Paul Anka’s still alive?? I'm not repeating myself, I mean the guy, not the dog. And also, the movie they watch on movie night...Eraserhead?? This really is Purgatory. But Kirk’s short film. Hysterical. Best thing I’ve seen so far. Anyway, Lor

01/25/21 - Day Damn One, Vivian. Day Damn One.

Jane the Virgin is complete. I laughed and bawled during the last episode. Intensely fabulous show.  This morning I started Gilmore Girls and I have thoughts:  1. Has Jared Padalecki ALWAYS had that voice? Like was he born sounding 40? It's weird and disorienting.  2. This show is very white privilege-y...but I don't hate it so far.  3. Not sure I like the Lorelais and their relationship, but it's starting to grow on me.   4. What is with all the coffee? I'm getting hyper-watching this thing.  Overall, I'm not hooked, but I'm willing to watch episode three, so that's progress. And I like the grandmother. I don't know why. I know I shouldn't, but I do. It's weird.
