05/08/21 Day Forty-Four - Karaoke Time!

Three more episodes to go!  Woo!


So, Rory is having imposter syndrome nightmares now that she didn’t get that internship with the New York Times. It doesn’t help that Paris invited all the medical school students over for cake and to “size up the competition”.




By the way...didn’t she get into six LAW schools? Or was it Med school? Was it both? How can it be both? Bad writers. Bad.





Anyway, Rory, of course, tanks her final because she’s in her own head. Once again Rory melts down when things don’t go her way rather easily. The girl’s got no coping skills.



Anyway, Zach’s going on tour, Lane’s got twins, tra-la-la.


Lorelai is trying to get next to Luke because he started wearing a hat she gave him. Lorelai’s all awkward until she gets drunk and sings “I will always love you” at the Babette/Ms. Patti Cabaret Karaoke Variety show.  



Lane: “Is she a Whitney fan?”

Rory: “I think it’s Dolly inspired.” Dolly. INSPIRED??? How DARE you!



Anyway, Luke walks in and all of a sudden she’s singing to Luke. This would’ve been so more touching if Lorelai could carry a tune in a bucket, but I’ll take it. I mean, it is Karaoke.




Side note: Kirk singing “Do you really want to hurt me”. That’s it. That’s the tweet.



But the episode is saved by Logan going to Lorelai and asking for her blessing to propose to Rory and YOU GUYS WHO HATE LOGAN AND LIKE JESS ARE CRAZY AS HELL THAT WAS AMAZING!

Recap... Rory’s writing a novel for a crazy British lady, she’s also still not-dating Logan (Oh, look, there’s Logan’s dad) and Lorelai is in therapy with her mom. And they’re holding a town meeting to plan for a Pride parade and I’m happy to report that there are very few gays in Purgatory. (I always knew it) Anyway, they can’t do it, because despite what certain people have been led to believe, there is a startlingly low number of homosexuals living in Stars Hollow. Also, Taylor commits a HIPAA violation and steals Lorelai’s guest list and finds there are B-movie actors in town and WE CAN’T HAVE THAT! Michel has a straight-up meltdown because of the B-listers. Lorelai talks to Luke about it, but Luke’s basically like F* that guy. Side note: Paul Anka’s still alive?? I'm not repeating myself, I mean the guy, not the dog. And also, the movie they watch on movie night...Eraserhead?? This really is Purgatory. But Kirk’s short film. Hysterical. Best thing I’ve seen so far. Anyway, Lor

01/25/21 - Day Damn One, Vivian. Day Damn One.

Jane the Virgin is complete. I laughed and bawled during the last episode. Intensely fabulous show.  This morning I started Gilmore Girls and I have thoughts:  1. Has Jared Padalecki ALWAYS had that voice? Like was he born sounding 40? It's weird and disorienting.  2. This show is very white privilege-y...but I don't hate it so far.  3. Not sure I like the Lorelais and their relationship, but it's starting to grow on me.   4. What is with all the coffee? I'm getting hyper-watching this thing.  Overall, I'm not hooked, but I'm willing to watch episode three, so that's progress. And I like the grandmother. I don't know why. I know I shouldn't, but I do. It's weird.

03/11/21 Day Eleven - Tailgating at Yale

So today was the Yale game episode and 1) Richard's a fun drunk, I can dig it. 2) Lorelai Sr. really is an awful person BUT I like Digger and the way that whole date thing shook out.  I couldn't help thinking though "So the writers DO know how to write romantic wooing and playful banter and not make it weird and stalkery. Good for them!" 3) Oh, yeah, and Paris and the writer teacher guy making out. Heh. That was a nice twist.
