Another Beautiful Day in Purgatory

Three more episodes to go!  Woo! So, Rory is having imposter syndrome nightmares now that she didn’t get that internship with the New York Times. It doesn’t help that Paris invited all the medical school students over for cake and to “size up the competition”. By the way...didn’t she get into six LAW schools? Or was it Med school? Was it both? How can it be both? Bad writers. Bad. Anyway, Rory, of course, tanks her final because she’s in her own head. Once again Rory melts down when things don’t go her way rather easily. The girl’s got no coping skills. Anyway, Zach’s going on tour, Lane’s got twins, tra-la-la. Lorelai is trying to get next to Luke because he started wearing a hat she gave him. Lorelai’s all awkward until she gets drunk and sings “I will always love you” at the Babette/Ms. Patti Cabaret Karaoke Variety show.   Lane: “Is she a Whitney fan?” Rory: “I think it’s Dolly inspired.” Dolly. INSPIRED??? How DARE you! Anyway, Luke walks in and all of a sudden she’s...

  So we open in this episode with Lorelai and Luke’s awkward theatre as they start talking again. *sigh* They end up going car shopping cuz the jeep died and she starts driving him crazy and hey, they’re back to the whole Lukelai bickering dynamic we all love. Maybe they will end up together by the end of this. That’s a bright spot I’m looking forward to in this show. Meanwhile, Paris got into law school, which is great. I mean, she’s never getting out of purgatory anyway. Really. She got into every law school she applied for and has managed to suck the fun out of the process. Along with my theory that Purgatory is Stars Hollow, I think that some of these characters are bound for redemption while others… Yo, Paris straight broke up with her boyfriend because she got into six law schools, y’all. I wish there was more to that story, but that’s basically how it shakes out. Having to make the decision about law school led to her questioning her relationship which led to her breaking up...

Okay, Logan and Rory are living with Paris and Doyle (much to Paris’ chagrin). Meh. Side note: Luke is doing the dad thing. His daughter is becoming less and less nerdy with every episode. Double Meh. We find out that Lane and Zach’s baby’s names are Kwan and Steve. (groan) and Taylor is doing his job as purgatory demon and decided to spend all the budget on a haybale maze that covers the whole town and thereby screwing up everyone’s businesses.  But purgatory demon didn’t account for his allergies. Heh. But even weirder, everyone loves the maze? Anyway, Lorelai gets roped into hosting the Spring Fling festival at the hotel and Rory is coming home with Logan and it’s a big deal like Lorelai Sr. has never met him before. “Oh, my God you’re bringing a BOY home.” Like...they’ve met and had conversations multiple times and hasn’t he been at their house before? Hey, writers! Maybe watch a few past episodes? Get up to speed before writing a “we get to meet the boy for the first time” epi...

  Took a couple of days off,  but...yeah.  Here we are. Logalai is breaking up...way later than originally predicted. Logan can’t get his shit together and Rory had the nerve to agree with his dad that he needs to get his shit together. So, she does what you do and goes on a road trip...with Lorelai Sr. and Emily. And...what the hell is a Watsu?? I don’t think I want to know, actually. Never mind. Side note: Lane and Zach just asked Luke to be godfather to their twins.    I don’t know why either! So, the Gilmores go to Mia’s wedding. Mia who took Lorelai in when she was young. Heh. And Logan shows up to the wedding like, Baby, please. And Rory’s like, Oh, my God, I’m so over your shit!  Then Logan tells her he’s quit the family biz and now they're fine...for now. I’m wondering how this works out when Logan gets cut off, cuz you know that’s coming.

  So, it’s Lane’s baby shower today and Lane and her mom are fighting because Lane and her mother need therapy. *sigh* For some reason Lorelai is playing mediator and I don’t think I care. So, Logan lost everybody’s money and now he’s depressed, so he bails out of the baby shower and decides to go to Vegas and Rory and the rest of us are like, “WTF?” Side note: Luke’s purgatory demons have decided to sell Luke’s boat without asking him. That leads to a conversation about Luke and Liz’s father being “stuck”. Luke decides that he’s going to plan a trip to Disney World because HE'S NOT STUCK and this is what purgatory demons do, Luke . And then Kirk is...being Kirk. He buys Luke’s boat and names it the S.S. Lurk. Not sure why the roster has assigned three purgatory demons to Luke, but whatevs. But now the serial killer has a boat.  The baby shower happens, lalala, Lane’s in a bed because she’s on bedrest, lalala, Lane asks Rory to be her unofficial Lorelai, blablabla. I’m sure y’...

So, we’re at the aftermath of the end of Chriselai, Emily is still planning a party and Richard has a sassy black nurse who don’t take no stuff from Emily. (hard sigh) Purgatory demons Liz and TJ have moved into Luke’s apartment because moths...I guess? And they’re messing with him about calling Lorelai now that she’s split up with Christopher and keeping him awake and breaking his garbage disposal, you know, because they’re Purgatory demons. Hey, writers! BTW, you said that Chriselai didn’t work because she jumped too fast from relationship to relationship...right? That’s what you decided to go with, right? Does this path make sense? No. I’m afraid it doesn’t. You should have gone with logic instead of forcing a plot, but here we are. I’ll bet Logalai will be back in about 2-3 episodes. And speaking of Logalai… Side note: When discussing his friend starting a restaurant, Mitch Hutzenberger used the metaphor of catching a firefly the same way you say catching lightning in a bottle whic...

I'm about to say this with my whole chest.  Fuck. Christopher. Let's review. He bailed on her when her dad was in the hospital, then had the nerve to be jealous when Luke brought her food, and THEN when Lorelai called him on his bullshit, he completely refused to take responsibility for his toddler behavior. “bUt tHe lEtTeR!” Like it’s her fault that he’s a jealous bitchbaby. And then, AND THEN, the writers decide again to make this all Lorelai’s fault. What is with these writers and their need to psychologically abuse the main character? An episode ago - LESS than an episode ago she was ready to make it work because she loved him and was over Luke and now they’re breaking up because SHE rushed into things too fast??? This is some straight bovine residue, y'all. Oh, but then, Lorelai Jr. gets all flustered over a cute guy and starts to doubt her relationship with Logan who, well, has been damned near perfect so far and… Man, I can’t wait to be done with this show.
